A t-astragal is a functional door moulding designed to close the clearance gap created by the side edges on one or both matching doors; they also stop the swinging door and help reduce sound when closed. The square side of the t-astragal attaches to a door stile edge on either sliding or swinging doors. The opposite side might have a three to five-degree angle to receive the closing door when the opposing door is in a fixed position. Exterior t-astragals generally have a 1/8" wide saw kerf milled into them to accommodate for weather-stripping to be inserted. A flat astragal is a profile typically comprised of a half-round circle flanked by two horizontal fillets and a cavetto. All our flat astragals are in the
plant on/applied moulding category of our catalog. We also have taller-sized mullions in this category; browse here for smaller-sized
mullions. enter the sizes you would like to view. If you're looking for a specific size, enter that dimension in the minimum box. If by chance you don't see the design or shape of the t-astragal you need, send us a sketch. We are happy to design a cad drawing, cut an acrylic template, and grind a set of knives for any profile you want.
