The profile is comprised of a 17/64" radius half-round circle with sufficient blend area on each side edge of the pattern. Bullnose profiles are not intended for milling half-round profiles due to the extra blend area incorporated in the knife design, this extra blade extension would strike the bedplates of the machinery if milled from the top horizontal spindle. If you're looking to mill a 17/32" half-round please search in that category, we have a few options to consider for milling multiple profiles simultaneously. The opposite is true for half-round details, they are milled from the top horizontal spindle, and the cutters will come within .020" of the moulder bedplates, they do not have any blend area built into the cutter design, so, if you try to mill a bullnose with these types of blades, you will experience parallel knife edge cuts if the moulding moves during the machining process, rendering the product unsellable.
Do you realize how important proper tool balance is to your current moulding operation? Find out more on how critical it is to have balanced cutter head, knives, screws, and gibs, and the problems they create if you neglect to focus on this task.
