Tongue & Groove 6-3/4" - 2

This duel purpose 6-3/4" - 2 Pickwick siding measures 7.062" overall by .750" thickness, enabling the detail to be machined out of four-quarter lumber. The installation face coverage dimension is 6.750" wide. The profile section on top of the design is composed of two 5/32" radius half-round beads that are separated by a 17/32" radius cove; chamfers are used in the transition between the geometrical shapes, the remaining 4-5/8" of the design is flat with a 1/4" wide chamfer on the outer edge. The bottom of the design is composed of two 1/2" radius round-overs with a 3/4" broad line segment; 7/16" of this will be exposed when installed. When two pieces of lumber are joined together they create a 2-1/8" profile area on one face side and a 7/16" channel/gap on the opposite side. There is .014" void around the tongue & groove joint for expansion and contraction of the wood during seasonal changes in relative humidity.

We offer a few versions of this same design for your review and consideration, tongue & groove 4.812" - 1, tongue & groove 6.813" and tongue & groove 6.813" - 2. The time-honored profile is somewhat of a legend; it seems as though anything named Pickwick back in the 1930s through 1960s was trendy, and the pattern remains an icon in current architectural design. The name most likely refers to The Pickwick Papers, written by Charles Dickens in the early 1800s.
