Tongue & Groove 4-13/16" - 1

This 4-13/16" - 1 tongue & groove Pickwick siding measures 5.062" overall by .718" thickness, and the face coverage dimension is 4.812" wide. The profile section of the design is composed of two 5/32" radius half-round beads separated by a 17/32" radius cove; chamfers are used in the transition between the geometrical shapes. The remaining 2-15/16" of the design is flat with a 1/4" wide chamfer on the outer edge on both the top and bottom. When two pieces of lumber are joined together, they create a 2-1/8" profile area on one face and a 1/2" wide by 11/64" deep v groove on the opposite face. There is a .015" void around the tongue & groove joint for expansion and contraction of the wood during seasonal changes in relative humidity.

The time-honored classic is somewhat of a legend in siding applications. It seems that anything named Pickwick from the 1930s through the 1960s was trendy. The name most likely refers to The Pickwick Papers, written by Charles Dickens in the early 1800s. The pattern remains an icon in architectural design presentations.
