This 3" - 12 tongue & groove decking/ceiling measures 3.000" thickness, requiring twelve-quarter lumber for milling on an industrial moulder. The width gets milled to any desired size within the parameters of the machinery used to cut the pattern. The simplistic detail composes two 5/8" tall by 1/2" deep recessed grooves divided by a 9/16" fillet on the right edge. The opposing side retains two 9/16" tall by 7/16" protruding tongues separated by a 5/8" vertical line segment. When two pieces of lumber merge, they create a simple butt joint with a .062" void in the t & g area for seasonal changes in relative humidity.
