Bullnose profiles are generally milled from the right or left vertical cutter heads. The knife designs are not for milling half-round profiles due to the extra blend area incorporated in the knife design; this extra knife extension would strike the bedplates of the machinery if milled from the top horizontal cutter head. If you're looking to mill a 3/8" half-round , please search in that category, we have a few other options to consider for milling multiple profiles simultaneously. The opposite holds for half-round details; they get milled from the top cutterheads, and the knives will come within .020" of the machine bedplates. They do not have any blend area built into the cutter design, so if you try to mill a bullnose with these blades, you will experience parallel knife edge cuts if the lumber moves during the machining process, rendering the product unsaleable.
For knife quoting purposes, click to open the calculator below; we have added only the important measurements; please enter the appropriate dimension in the boxes provided. A brief detailed explanation of how to use the calculator is located here. Need some assistance with the dimensions? Print a copy of our fraction - decimal - millimeter chart, place it on the molder to help operators save time and increase accuracy during machine setup.
Thickness = .375" / Depth of Cut = .344" (right blades).
