60 Degree Back Bevel Cutter - 1

This 60-degree-1 back bevel is designed to mill a 60-degree chamfer on the left back side of a piece of lumber to produce crown/cove moulding. These knives account for only half of the factors that determine the final height and projection when the cove/crown mould is installed. The other half of the mathematical equation is generally a degree (in this case, thirty), which, when combined, equals ninety degrees or slightly more. This 60-degree bevel has a maximum depth of cut of 1.250", and the maximum height of cut is set at .758". Every crown moulding we design has a height number near the edge of each degree bevel; that number must be smaller than the height number. In this example, the number is .721" for this knife to properly cut the entire chamfer while milling; if not, please select a different height-sized bevel of the same degree.

We intentionally design all our coves, bed moulds, and crown moulds with forty-five degree angles, and undercuts are milled on the right vertical cutter head, and all forty-five degree and higher cuts get milled on the left vertical cutter head. This specialized practice will save thousands of dollars in manufacturing costs over the years.
