Tongue & Groove 11/16" - 8

This straightforward 11/16" - 8 tongue & groove butt joint measures .687" thickness, allowing the detail to be machined from four-quarter lumber; widths can be milled to any desired size within the parameters of the machinery used to cut the pattern. When two pieces of milled lumber are joined, they create a simple butt joint with a 1/32" gap on the back side of the board, assuring a snug fit in the joint when installed. The basic profile comprises a 1/4" wide by 1/4" deep tongue and groove with a 1/32" offset at the bottom of the tongue side. There is a .005" void in the joint area for expansion and contraction of the boards during seasonal changes in relative humidity.
