Tongue & Groove 8-7/8"

This 8-7/8" Pickwick paneling measures 9.250" wide with a face dimension of 8.875" wide and a thickness of .718". The nickname Pickwick gets its identity from Charles Dickens's first novel, "The Pickwick Papers." this wood paneling style remains very popular in home architecture. The profile is composed of a 1.875" detail on one side that consists of three chamfers and two half-round beads with a cavetto/cove positioned in the center; the other side of the design has a 1/4" chamfer on the edge of one side and both sides of the bottom. When two finished milled pieces of lumber are joined together, they create a 2-1/8" profile with 6-3/4" of flat between the profile portions and a 1/2" wide V groove on the opposite face for an alternative pattern installation. This pattern will require a 12" wide capable molder and grinder to grind the knives to mill this particular pattern. Typically, when machining tongue and groove profiles on an industrial moulder, the tongue portion is milled on the left vertical cutter head, and the groove is milled on the right cutter head to help straighten the lumber while increasing yield utilizing the adjustable infeed fence on the machine. The template design is just the opposite, so you can change the widths to any size you desire at the time of milling simply by adjusting the left vertical spindle, which is milling the two chamfers and the groove simultaneously.
