Handrail 2-1/2" - 40

This colonial 2-1/2" - 40 handrail measures 2.500" width by 1.875" thickness, requiring a 2-3/4" wide blank of glued-up pieces of four-, five-, or six-quarter lumber for machining on an industrial moulder. The stylish profile contains a shallow 1-7/16" convex arc flanked by a 9/32" wide 12.3-degree beveled edge with 3/64" eased edges on both corners on the top. The symmetrical sides consist of a 1/4" half bead flanked by vertical fillets. The short line merges with a two tangent radius scotia, creating a decorative and comfortable finger grip area in the center. The scalloped concave arc joins a 1/4" vertical line with an embellishing 1/4" half circle on the lower corners. The dado for the balusters measures 1-1/4" wide by 3/8" tall, leaving 5/8" on each side edge of the pattern.
