2-1/4" Half Round

This 2-1/4" half-round measures 2.250" wide by 1.125" thickness, necessitating the use of five, or six-quarter lumber for milling. The simplistic profile is comprised of a 1-1/8" radius half-round circle. Half-circle cutters should not be used for bullnose profiles because no blend area is built into the knife design. Top cutter heads generally machine half-round. Therefore, the knives come within .020" of the machine's bed plates, so the knife ends at the exact thickness of the moulding. On the other hand, bullnose profiles are often cut from either the right or left vertical cutter heads, there is a 5/32" blend extension area built into the knife design, so it cannot be utilized as a half-round cutter.
