Crown 4-5/8" - 9

This distinguished 4-5/8" - 9 crown mould measures 4.625" in width by .813" in thickness, requiring 4-7/8" wide blanks of four-quarter lumber for machining sprung (laying horizontally flat) on an industrial moulder. The beautiful terminating profile comprises a 2-9/32" radius cove attached to a 1/2" tall vertical line at the center top left. The lower portion consists of a 25/64" wide half-round circle connected to a small vertical fillet, joined to a 5/8" radius cove with a 7/16" radius bullnose at the bottom right corner. The spring angles are fixed at forty-two and forty-eight degrees, these specific back bevels set the installed height at 3-15/32" tall, with a projection of 3-1/16" wide. The half-round bead in the center is the high point of the design. Try using a felt-wrapped pressure shoe when milling this detail. It will eliminate any unsightly burnish mark left on the finished profile caused by the metal hold-down unit on the molder.
