56 Degree Back Bevel Cutter

This 56-degree back bevel moulding knife is designed for milling a fifty-six-degree chamfer on the left side of a piece of crown, cove, or bed mould. This knife design creates only half of the determining factor of the final height and projection when installed. The other half of the equation will be a degree that combined equals ninety degrees or slightly more. On this back bevel cutter, the maximum depth of cut is 1.062", the max height of cut being set at .717". Every crown, bed, or cove mould we layout has height numbers near the degree of back cut; that number must be smaller than the height number, in this case, .526" for this knife to be able to work correctly while milling, if not, select a more considerable size height of the same degree.

We design all our sprung mouldings (laying horizontally flat during the machining process) with forty-five degrees and under, milled on the right vertical cutter head, and all forty-five degree back cuts and higher milled on the left vertical cutter head. This custom design practice will save thousands of dollars in manufacturing costs over the years.
