This 45.5-degree back bevel cutter is designed to mill a chamfer on the backside of a piece of larger-sized bed, crown, or cove moulding, the extra one-half-degree back cut on each side will help offset any cupping and assure a good seating of the profile when installed. On this bevel the maximum depth of cut can only be 1.145" with the maximum height of cut being set at 1.125". All sprung moulding designs have height numbers near the edge of the degree, that number must be smaller than the height number in the image above, in this case 1.125" for this knife to be able to cut properly while milling, if not, select another size bevel that is suitable for your application.
