On this back cut layout in the image above the maximum depth of cut is .500", the maximum height of cut is set at .755". Every crown, cove or bed moulding we design have height numbers near the degree of the angle on the layout paperwork we supply. That number must be smaller than the height number, in this case .755" for this knife to be able to cut the entire height of the bevel while milling, if not please select a larger size height bevel of the same degree. We deliberately design all our crown, cove and bed moldings with forty-five degree bevels and under to be milled on the right vertical spindle, and, all forty-five degree and higher back bevels to be milled on the left vertical spindle. Our custom design practices will save you thousands of dollars in manufacturing cost over the years.
For knife quoting purposes use the calculator below, we have added only the important measurements. A brief detailed explanation on how to use the calculator is located here. Need some assistance with the dimensions? Print a copy of our fraction - decimal - millimeter chart, place it on the moulder to help operators save time and increase accuracy during machine setup.
Thickness = 1.625" / Depth of Cut = .500" (right cutters).
