This colonial 6" - 168 base moulding measures 6.000" width by .625" thickness, requiring a 6-1/4" wide blank of four-quarter lumber for milling on an industrial molder. The traditional profile comprises a 4-27/32" broad line segment with a 9/64" tapered vertical step on the top center. The small angled line connects to a 1/16" wide sunk fillet, transitioning into a two tangent radius s-shaped curvature and an additional vertical elevation change with an 11/64" quarter round bead on the design's right side.
Caution: the cutters will come within .020" of the machine bed plates when milling this detail. We recommend a wooden, phenolic, or plastic sacrificial bed plate for these milling operations.
